Strand Woven Bamboo - Superior Performance in an Environmentally Sustainable Flooring alternative
Bamboo Fusion is strand woven bamboo flooring, derived directly from the pole of the Moso bamboo plant, which grows wild in the mountainous regions of China. Bamboo is technically a grass and is one of the strongest materials in the world. It has a tensile strength superior to cold rolled steel and a compressive strength higher than concrete.
The patented stranding process used to create this product compresses and encapsulates the cell structure of the bamboo creating an extremely dense, durable and stable floor; a floor that will outperform and outlast traditional old growth hardwoods like oak, maple and cherry.
Bamboo is recognized as an environmentally friendly, sustainable and renewable resource. The pole of the plant grows to full maturity in 5 years and if not harvested dies and a new pole regenerates from the rhizome of the plant. One culm can produce up to 200 poles in its life cycle.
There is virtually no waste or pollution in the harvesting and production of strand bamboo. Block factories are strategically located near the plantations and forests where Moso bamboo grows.
Virtually 100% of the pole is utilized in the manufacturing process, and the limited waste product is used by other industries or to generate the power that operates the factories.

The Patented Manufacturing Process
Step 1: Dried bamboo poles are shredded into fine strips, dissecting and opening the cell structure of the plant.
Step 2: The bamboo strips are immersed in non-toxic, water based glue, which fills and encapsulates the exposed cells.
Step 3: A precisely measured quantity of bamboo strips is fused together under the high pressure of a 2500-ton cold press, producing blocks similar in size and shape to railroad ties. The cold press uses no heat and no toxic or harmful chemicals.
Step 4: The solid block is left to stabilize in a resting position for 30 days before being processed into flooring material.
This process produces a denser, more stable, and harder floor product.

Finishes
All Bamboo Fusion products undergo a 10 stage Klumpp finish process, which includes Klumpp anti-scratch primers, sealers and finishing coats. Klumpp’s low-gloss finish system provides the wear protection of aluminium oxide with two polyurethane scratch-resistant topcoats. Coating is waterbased, solvent free and meets US and European (E1) standards for off-gassing.
