Product Description
PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
DuChateau Floors™ charm is a result of its antique character. Please do not over maintain. Do not use a wet mop. Simply vacuum or sweep for daily cleaning needs. Only use DuChateau Floors maintenance products & cleaners
About Hard Wax Oil Floors:
A hard wax oil finished floor by definition has been saturated throughout with oils that make the floor relatively impermeable to foreign contaminants. Periodic application of Maintenance Oil rejuvenates the surface coat to prevent de-saturation of the hard wax oils in the floor.
Daily Cleaning:
Vacuum as necessary. Our hardwood floor cleaner can be used for cleanup as much as once per week. Clean with a damp (NOT wet) cloth or mop and warm water. Use sparingly. Please do NOT use synthetic wax or cleansers, ammonia, bleach, or Murphy’s Oil Soap. When using a floor buffing machine, NEVER buff the floor with any pads more aggressive than the white, lowest abrasion buffing pad. Blot up spills and spots immediately.
Stain Removal Instructions:
1. Remove stain as best you can with a damp sponge, and let dry.
2. If stain is still there, gently scrub the affected area with grain of wood using a sponge dipped in Maintenance Oil (stir well before use).
3. If stain is still there, wipe residue away and then and gently use green part of a Scotch-brite scouring pad dipped in Maintenance Oil, with grain of wood. Excessive scrubbing will remove finish from floor. Use a toothbrush instead of a Scotch-brite pad for hard to reach areas.
4. If there is floor discoloration after the stain is removed, apply Color Repair Wax to the affected area. Other methods may be used to re-stain the discolored area. Contact us for details.
Yearly Maintenance Instructions:
Maintenance Oil nourishes the floor and maintains its resilience. Apply Maintenance Oil annually, more frequently in high traffic or commercial applications. Clean floor as usual (see above). The floor surface must be dry and free of dust and grease. Let dry completely. Apply a thin coat of maintenance oil evenly along the grain using a lint-free cloth or with a floor buffing machine with the softest (white) pad. It is not necessary to treat the entire floor at the same time, so small sections of the floor may be done as is convenient.
For DuChateau floors used in high traffic commercial applications such as restaurants or pubs this maintenance may need to be performed more frequently, as much as once each calendar quarter. Drying time may require up to 12 hours, depending on temperature, ventilation and humidity.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Use Maintenance Oil sparingly. If excessive Maintenance Oil is applied it will not cure, and will become vulnerable to scratching & smudging.
